Care for Birds:

NEVER gut the bird. If possible, stick the bird's head under its wing. Next, place the bird in a plastic trash bag and tape it up really well before placing it in the freezer.

 

Birds will last anywhere from 4 to 6 months in the freezer before suffering freezer burn. Be sure to take the bird to your taxidermist before that point. Birds have suffered freezer burn when the legs and feet have become white.
